Chihkan Tower Taiwan

Chihkan Tower Taiwan is one of the most famous historical site in Tainan City,Taiwan. It has more than 300 years of history, since 1982, it has been considered as one of the top historical sties in Taiwan. It was formerly known as Fort Provintia. It was built in the year 1653 by Dutch. The walls were about 36 feet in height and 453 feet around.

The walls of the stronghold were made from bricks, which were imported from Java, whereas the walls of the Chihkan Tower buildings are made from the solid bricks of the oyster shell lime which was mixed with glutinous rice paste and sugar water. Cheng Cheng-kung was the person who renamed this Chihkan Tower Taiwan as ‘Mansion Bestowed by Heaven’ and made it as his center of government after driving out the Dutch.
