Taiwan Language
The national dialect of Taiwan or Republic of China is the Standard Mandarin. 80% of the Taiwanese, who belong to Hoklo or Holo ethnic groups, speak Taiwanese or the Standard Mandarin. The same language is used in schools and the other 10% Hakka people speak the Hakka language. English is the second most important language and is followed throughout the country.
The teachings in schools here are mostly imparted in the Mandarin dialect. Even in radio as well as television programs, this language is used. However, from year 1900 to 1945, the locals used to converse in the Japanese dialect because of the Japanese rule.
